Engineer | Curious Mind | Student
I've had a pretty broad experience. I've been a commercial fisherman on the bearing sea, I've raced over 100 miles, I've built 3D printed rocket engines. I think that the kind of experience that I've had doesn't fit well on a resume. It's hard to detail to someone in your objective statement that you can lead well because you've lead a team to the top of mountain, and that the only reason that you can do that well, is because you started out doing it quite poorly. Likewise it's difficult to demonstrate that you're a quick learner without somehow showing that over the course of 6 months you learned propulsion engineering basics and then 3D printed a liquid fuel rocket engine.
I've never been the type of person who thought it acceptable to stop progressing at anything worth doing. Because of my drive to be continously learning, I've managed to teach myself to excel at many things. This website is a perfect example; composed in Django, it uses a mixture of class-based generic views, the admin interface, 3rd party packages, custom code, the REST api framework, and more to demonstrate that I can learn complex systems and put them together into a finished project. The articles below are editable by a user with appropriate permissions, the admin is accessable to a superuser. The front page itself interfaces with a REST api through javascript.
Please explore some of the things I've created, and keep in mind that the type of person who trains 400 hours a year to run 100 mile races, or learns to draw just to spend 300 hours meticulously hand painting a motorcycle; that person takes the soft skills which enables them to succeed to work with them every day.
Some things I'm good at:
Problem Solving
Python / Django
React / React Native
The stuff that should pique your intrest.
My creative side is important.
From building rockets to testing space equipment.
I can't wait to meet your team!
